A Trio of Teas to Brighten Your “Normal” Day

A Trio of Teas to Brighten Your “Normal” Day

It’s nearly August. There’s a good chance you’ve already taken that summer trip — after 15 months of plodding through COVID without traveling, you scratched that vacation itch as soon as possible.

School begins in just weeks. Work calls. A daily routine emerges. Up early to exercise. Then, a day of work. Perhaps a little time for a creative pursuit — which may include your work. And then you pull the plug on the day and sink into the meal, the book, the show.

Normal days like these, rather than ones devoted to creativity or exercise or relaxation, are made for constant tea drinking. Sips all day long for for energy, for creativity and for tranquility.

We have hatched a tea-savoring plan for you! Enjoy it for the rest of the summer and all year long, and of course experiment. Craft your own bespoke tea line-up for the normal days that populate most of our lives. No matter what you are doing, tea is here for you!

Teas for Normal Days: Organic Earl Grey Superior

Earl Grey Superior is so packed with flavor its downright regal.

Here’s a tea to rouse your foggy brain after a long sleep, and to brighten your taste buds, too. This superb Organic Earl Grey Superior relies on exquisite organic Sri Lankan black tea which gets infused with bergamot oil, a unique citrus flavor from bergamot fruits that are mostly grown in Calabria, in southern Italy.

The Sri Lankan black tea provides the caffeine, and the bergamot offers the alluring citrus massage, one that quickens the senses while also inviting you to keep on sipping the tea — it’s that delicious.

We like Earl Grey in the morning. We also enjoy it in the early afternoon, when we need a little jolt of energy and something bright to lift our mood. Also, if we begin our day with exercise we like a bit of Earl Grey Superior to jumpstart the workout.

Teas for Normal Days: Lemon Blossom Oolong

We sell our Lemon Blossom Oolong both whole-leaf and as an RTD kombucha.

When we engage with creative pursuits, everything from writing to cooking to gardening, we like drinking oolong tea. The style of tea, from China, serves as a sort of bridge between green tea, which isn’t oxidized, and black tea, which is the most oxidized of all tea styles. Between these boundaries sit white tea, which is just slightly oxidized, pu-erh, a fermented tea and oolong, which sees more oxidization than white tea, but less than black.

There’s something about oolong’s complexities that seems to speak to creativity’s mysterious demands. Oolongs can taste earthy and slightly funky – like forest floor in fall (in a great way). They can taste bright and malty. Some are more floral, others almost savory. And then some taste sweet, too. Like creativity, oolong tea has a lot of range!

Tea farmers in China blend this excellent oolong with lemon and an abundance of heather flowers, as well as cornflower blossoms and apple. Altogether, it’s bewitching: some oolong earthiness, a dash of lemon zing, floral notes from heather blossoms and cornflowers, and apple’s unique fruitiness.

We love lemon blossom oolong hot as well as iced. We favor it so much we use it as the base for one of our ready-to-drink kombucha teas. Brew some lemon blossom oolong and sip your way through that short story you’ve been writing for weeks.

Teas for Normal Days: Night Time Blend

When it’s time to relax as well as sleep, it’s time for our Night Time Blend.

The day of a little bit of this, a smidgen of that, and a soupçon of something else is drawing to a close. The morning hike with Earl Grey got it started. As you engaged your brain across the day with creative thinking and practical tasks, Lemon Blossom Oolong helped carry you through. And now it’s time to put the day aside and help your spirit flap its wings and drift, free from burdens and responsibilities.

For that, we turn to our Night Time Blend, a wonderful custom mixture of chamomile, catnip, peppermint and valerian root that lends a hand to those seeking relief from pressures and anxiety. All of the herbs are used by naturopathic physicians to help with relaxation, sleep and stress-relief. Great news — unlike most medicines, they taste fabulous. Among the ingredients, valerian root is especially potent. It acts as a mild sedative on the brain and nervous system.

As summer’s discombobulated days begin to find purchase again in routine, tea is an ideal partner for complementing the day’s moments, from exercise to work to sleep. Enjoy your tea-spritzed mornings, afternoons and nights!
