Post-Tax Bloom: Sip Your Way Back to Serenity

Post-Tax Bloom: Sip Your Way Back to Serenity

Ah, April. So light and breezy. So flooded with green life and pastel enchantments, with blossom-perfumed breezes and birdsong.

Ahhh.

Ohhh!

Nooo!

Tax day!

Yes, even as the robins bounce through plots of daffodils and tulips, April 15 looms. We’re past it now—whew—but many of us still carry around jolts of form-filling PTSD around.

Good news? It won’t come around for another year. You’ve got plenty of time to recover, to sink into serenity and aimless diversion before April’s meddlesome gremlin pops up again, demanding dull, complicated toil—under deadline.

Let’s bring on the mellow—fast.

You Filed. You Freaked. Now You Steep.

Many post-tax-filing pursuits tap the sauce—the pint or flute, the highball or even the shot. Solid moves. But we prefer the cup and mug, the gaiwan and chawan. Because we’re not downing Old Fashioneds or cold glasses of white Burgundy (well, not constantly, at least) for stress deliverance. Instead, we turn to tea.

And we’ve got just the lineup for these halcyon days after the filing is finito and the runway until the next Tax Day is many months long.

It’s time to soothe those nerves! Here’s how.

Relaxing Teas: CHA Relax Herbal Blend (Organic)

Teleport away from those taxes with CHA Relax.

It’s almost like we crafted this custom beauty with tax day in mind. Instead, the inspiration for this blend comes straight from the University of Colorado in Boulder, where we partnered with the university’s Center for Humanities and the Arts (CHA) to craft a tea that could help deliver calm minds to over-stimulated, and stressed, students.

Here, we begin with organic green rooibos, which brings a wallop of vitamins and electrolytes to the tea. Both of them help the body thrive. To this grand South African botanical we add ginkgo leaf (superb for brain health, including memory), elder flower (commonly used to boost immunity), chamomile (a classic plant for soothing busy minds and bodies) and spearmint (cooling and delicious).

Relaxing Teas: Rooibos Chai (Organic)

Invite glorious rooibos to the post-tax party.

Rooibos to the rescue—again! We could champion many of our traditional teas from Asia for peace-making—the heady perfumes, flavors and even textures ripen serenity in many who sip them. But for immediate recovery from tax filing, we think it’s best to pivot away from caffeine. And whenever we skip past the caffeine, rooibos often ends up in the blend.

Our sense of taste can bring about extreme comfort; there’s a reason so many of us gravitate to the dishes our doting moms made when we were little people. Her food warmed our hearts. When we savor it again, years later, the comfort vibes often get triggered, in a most pleasing way.

Which brings us to chai. Sure, it satisfies especially in autumn, when we’re wallowing in full pumpkin-spice splendor. But we find a cuppa’ chai can ratchet back our stress and invite dreamy feels any time of the year.

This rooibos chai incorporates cinnamon, ginger, anise, black pepper, cardamom, cloves and bay leaf into what is a singular taste sensation. Potent, loud—and oh so soothing. Take a sip. By the time you go for your second, you’ll feel those shoulders dip.

Relaxing Teas: Zen Time Blend

What follows tax time? Tea time!

Ready to slip into quiet-mind meditation mode? Of course you are, after subjecting your poor brain to so much … taxing … exercise earlier this week. Sip our Zen Time Blend and experience the majesty of release. Let the worries drift. Let go of the chain with that anchor dangling from its end—feel your spirit rise.

One of the keys to this popular blend is passionflower, with naturopathic doctors frequently advise for helping with things like anxiety, restlessness and sleep problems. The tea also includes soothing rose and rosehip, calming chamomile and cooling peppermint.

Tax season is behind you! In front? Deflated stress. At least one less concern. And tea—lots of wonderful tea!
