Ku Cha’s 20th Welcomes Anniversary Teas!
Can you feel it? The shift in the sunlight, which radiates bright, cold lemon during the winter? Our precious burning star now is delivering whispers of warmth again. And hints of gold now touch that citrus light.
Spring is in the air.
And this year, we find the season of birth especially resonant. It’s Ku Cha’s 20th anniversary! Hard to believe that two decades ago we opened our doors in downtown Boulder for the first time. Our doors have welcomed guests ever since, even as our Boulder address has changed several times. And we have added new stores, too, since that beginning so long ago.
Ku Cha’s Humble Beginnings—A One-Page Plan!

It all began thanks to the one-page business plan that Rong wrote while pursuing her MBA from the University of Colorado. The plan was a class assignment. As part of the exercise, students were instructed to vote up or down about the viability of their classmates’ business ideas.
Her fellow students voted down on the launch of Ku Cha House of Tea. It’ll never last, they advised.
Welp—they were wrong about that!
Either way, Rong’s emphasis across pursuit of that degree was finance—she even worked for a bit as a banker after graduation.
But she couldn’t shake the teahouse dream. Nor could her electrical engineer husband, Qin. And while Rong was wearing the banker hat, Qin decided to use Rong’s one-page plan to open the first Ku Cha House of Tea, back in 2005.
As the shop gained financial footing and a local following, the dream began aligning with reality. Rong said goodbye to banking. She joined Qin full-time at Ku Cha House of Tea.
Twenty years later, it has become part of the fabric of the Front Range. It thrills us to know that we have introduced so many Coloradans and tourists to the glories of tea!
We will engage with this anniversary theme across the year with blog and newsletter postings, as well as events and specials.
Today, we introduce you to our two 20th anniversary teas: Ku Cha Renewal and Ku Cha Radiance!
Ku Cha Anniversary Teas: Ku Cha Renewal

We set Ku Cha House of Tea out into the world 20 years ago—gave birth to it, in a sense. And birth, of course, dwells at the heart of spring. Fortunately for us, the tea house has continued to live on for spring after spring—renewal! This word, too, captures much about the post-winter season. It’s not just about emergence—it’s also about revival!
For this special 20th anniversary tea, we decided to keep things relatively unadorned, and flooded with intention. It contains two classic styles of tea—earthy oolong and bold black.
To this, we have added perfumed flower. This fragrant blossom offers delicate, honeyed, apricot-like aromas to the tea, with similar flavor notes. It’s often paired with black and oolong teas for its complementary advantages.
And then we paired blue cornflower to the blend, a beautiful wildflower that in many cultures represents hope, delicacy and most importantly renewal!
Ku Cha Anniversary Teas: Ku Cha Radiance

Our growth along with you—and in fact, thanks to you!—floods us with radiance during this 20th year of serving you in Boulder, Fort Collins and the Denver metropolitan area. To complement our feelings of warmth and gratitude, we crafted this anniversary blend—a mix of botanicals designed to stoke radiance in us all.
We begin with powerful rooibos, the South African shrub that in addition to earthy, complex flavors brings health to its sippers. Among other things, antioxidants and electrolytes fill the plant. Both of these qualities help fortify vigor. For calm and serenity, we added lavender, safflower and sage. All of these, of course, carry their own wonderful flavors. To add hints of sweetness to the blend, we included pomegranate, pomelo, orange and carrot. Rewarding and nourishing, this tea will make you shine!
