Saying Goodbye to Ghosts, and Hello to the Holidays!
Happy Halloween!
We hope everybody enjoys the evening of witches and goblins, of vampires, superheroes, princesses and much more. It’s such a colorful holiday, one steeped in mystery and bold atmosphere. Halloween is meant for tea, too! Enjoy a few mugs while you’re wandering neighborhoods with the kids, or holding out bowls of candy at the front door.
Thanksgiving traditonally served as the launching pad for the holidays. But the season has slowly evolved to encompass all of November—not just the end of the month. In other words, the last day of October—Halloween—now seems to stand as the holiday season kick-off.
Welcome to the holiday zone at Ku Cha House of Tea!
The slow sprawl of the holidays can annoy—do we really need to see ornament-spangled trees in big box stores for months? But at the same time, it can brighten our days during the darker months. We think that tasteful forays into HolidayLand 60 days before the New Year can bring cheer and charm.
Between now and 2025, we’ll dive deep into everything from artisan iron teapots from China to Japanese ceramic cups, portable tea strainers, gift boxes and much more. That includes lots and lots of TEA!
Our favorite beverage, of course, stands as a wonderful and versatile companion to the return of shorter days, frigid temperatures, snow and the rest of the autumn/winter/spring accoutrements. Many of us sip hot tea with more gusto, as well as amped volume, during the non-summer months.
Tea for sips—and for gifts
But tea and its many accessories also deliver immense pleasure to friends and family as gifts.
For loved ones who already love certain teas, now is the time to thrill them with especially outstanding versions of their preferred teas—only the best at Ku Cha! We also think tea-loving friends and family will appreciate introductions to new teas.
For tea newbies, this is your opportunity to welcome them into the tea temple! Gift baskets, among other options, help acquaint people with tea’s vast diversity.
And everybody appreciates receiving beautiful works of artisanship like tea pots and cups as holiday gifts.
During the two-month holiday season—across the span of that frenzy of entertaining, socializing, sharing, shopping, cooking and much more—consider Ku Cha for many of your gift-giving needs. And don’t forget to sip loads of tea as you wrap those gifts, bake those cookies, cook that Thanksgiving bird and decorate the house with pumpkins and corn stalks, wreaths and evergreen boughs, gingerbread houses and colored lights and red velvet bows.
Savor tonight’s skeleton-and-ghost springboard into the holiday season!
Holiday Teas: Holiday Apple Frost Green
The flavors of the holidays aren’t fixed on the December events. Thanksgiving offers celebrants a wealth of flavors that also contribute toward the holiday season vibe. Apples nearly always figure into the feast. Many gravies incorporate orange zest. Spices like cinnamon also play roles in the Thanksgiving table. You’ve got it all in our Holiday Apple Frost green tea. This beauty finds grassy Japanese sencha tea as its sturdy base. To that we add apple, orange peel, almonds (another Thanksgiving player, thanks to almonds in sweet offerings). At the same time, this tea nails the December portion of the holiday parade. A two-fer!
Holiday Teas: Milk Oolong
Our extremely popular Milk Oolong doesn’t play in the holiday-flavor sandbox. No peppermint or cocoa, not a whisper of ginger or clove. So how does it rank as a holiday tea? For one, as a wonderful gift. This is our most sought after flavored oolong tea; people go mad for it. It’s straight oolong from Taiwan, just barely touched with a dairy-free creamer. The creamer adds a silky luxury to the tea, and enriches the already outstanding flavor. It sings as a gift for anybody, regardless of whether they revere tea or are tea-clueless. But it also serves as an excellent sipping companion across the holidays. The tea’s velvety luxuriousness enhances the flavor and experience of many foods, from pumpkin pie to roast turkey. You need to add Milk Oolong to your holiday protocol!
Holiday Teas: Black Dragon Pearl
Classic and traditional tea, from the Camellia sinensis plant, yields a broad range of interesting and captivating flavors. It may all come from the same species, but the varieties within the species fill a long list. Just as all tomatoes dwell within the same species, their varieities produce a dizzying array of flavors, textures, shapes and colors. In addition to the proliferation of varieties, Camellia sinensis also gets planted in a capacious array of environments—from rocky, mountainous and chilly, to tropical, wet and hot. Even more, tea farmers apply different post-harvest methods to the plant; those practices help determine whether the tea is green, white, oolong, black or puerh. They also shape flavor. Our Black Dragon Pearl is a black tea, grown in Yunnan Province. And the unique flavors that come from the variety used to grow it as well as the post-cultivation techniques lend it hints of cacao and spice–perfect for the holiday season, and 100 percent natural.
