Slow Down and Savor the Season: Three Relaxing Autumn Teas

Slow Down and Savor the Season: Three Relaxing Autumn Teas

A few days ago, while writing, the first day of autumn arrived, on September 22. The blue skies that cloaked Boulder the day before switched to pewter that morning, and a patter of rain on leaves provided a welcome soundtrack after a dry summer. The high temperature didn’t climb out of the 50s. We tended our first fire of the season in the hearth, and read books.

Welcome back, autumn.

The season invites much in the way of activity, from enjoying long, tea-fueled drives to witness the changing leaves in the mountains, to busying ourselves in the kitchen making soups and stews. But it also encourages us to slow down. To sit in peace beside a forest stream. To sink into long baths.

Bring on the peace with herbal blends

While classic Camellia sinensis teas like oolong and puerh enhance autumn atmospheres, they also contain caffeine. The natural compound is healthy and wonderfully stimulative. But it’s not always what a tea sipper desires, especially if it’s close to bedtime, or the fall pursuit—like reading beside a fire—calls for relaxation rather than get up and go.

Enter our vast collection of herbal blends. Many of these teas revel in the season’s flavors—baking spices, apple, etc.—without the caffeine jolt. What’s not to adore about cradling a warm mug of Pumpkin Pie tea while watching gold and crimson leaves drifting down from branches?

Here in Colorado, these first hints of fall don’t normally take hold until later in October. After today’s glorious spectacle of early autumnal vibes, we’ll see temperatures climb back into the 80s, with loads of sun and vivid blue skies.

Either way, our spirits have officially said goodbye to summer, and eagerly await the emergence of autumn. And tea is accessorizing these first feints with flavor, aroma and lots of atmosphere!

Autumn Relaxation Vibe: Pumpkin Pie Blend

The season in all of its glory—distilled in a sip of tea!

Sipping our custom and new Pumpkin Pie seasonal blend is almost like cheating—you’ll get all of the autumn feels, even if the season hasn’t arrived! And if you do sip this wonderful elixir during fall, then it just accentuates and enhances the season’s many advantages and atmospheric treasures. Loaded with classic pumpkin pie apices, along with apple, real pumpkin and toasted almond, this beauty will align you fully with the beginning of sweater season—from sip to sip.

Autumn Relaxation Vibe: Rooibos Cinnamon

Punched with cinnamon, this tea spices up while it also relaxes.

Cinnamon serves as a bold partner for two seasons—from cinnamon-and-apple treats in autumn to December’s candy canes and chocolate-cinnamon cookies and cakes. We clearly love cinnamon in the United States. This is not surprising—among our planets many spice gifts, few rival cinnamon for depth, zip and versatility. This outstanding tea leads with rooibos, the earthy South African shrub that people in the country sip with abandon. In addition to the deep roots that rooibos provides, the plant also delivers quite a bit of healthy electrolytes and antioxidants. To this we add cinnamon, of course. And then we pair the spice with two other complementary botanicals for a true classic flavor combination: orange peel and sweet cloves. This blend is like autumn in a mug.

Autumn Relaxation Vibe: Balance Tea

Balance tea rests on a foundation of Ayurveda.

We crafted this custom blend in accordance with Ayurvedic principles of balance. The goal? To ripen harmony within both body and mind. It works! This delicious tea, which flirts with being a chai, accentuates fall’s many pleasures while also bringing about a sense of calm and clarity. It’s perfect. With cinnamon, cardamom, licorice root, coriander, fennel, ginger root and rose, this heady tea invites sippers to slow down and savor life. In addition, ingredients like licorice root, fennel and ginger root aid digestion.
