Mother’s Day Teas That Balance Energy and Serenity

Mother’s Day Teas That Balance Energy and Serenity

We’re halfway through April already—Stress Awareness Month. For weeks we’ve been sipping teas to manage allergy symptoms, and to give us energy as the days lengthen. We’ve hit the trails, fortified with wise tea choices, and started to consider tea choices for Mother’s Day gifts.

As the holiday approaches—it’s three weeks from Sunday—let’s return to a key attribute we all yearn to give to matriarchs, one that also aligns with Stress Awareness Month: calm.

Bringing calm to moms

She’s a mom, so no matter her age she cares deeply about her children, and worries about them. If she’s not a senior citizen, chances are mom works, too. Meanwhile, in many households she handles a balance of the cooking, and gets the kids ready for school. She routinely manages the family calendar, and engages with quite a bit of shuttling around in the car—school drop-offs, soccer practices, shopping, birthday party ferrying.

Mom savors slipping under the covers and drifting into sleep every night. That’s pure unplugged calm. But she needs respites during the day, when she’s pursuing the parade of tasks that rise up every day, as soon as she opens her eyes in the morning.

The trick: delivering serenity without exorcising the zip and vim she needs to carry on through the morning, afternoon and evening. Accomplishing that goal doesn’t always register as easy.

Tea can help. Artisans have been striking balance with tea for centuries, nurturing traditional Camellia sinensis plants that dial-back the caffeine and crafting herbal blends that simultaneously ripen vigor and tranquility.

With more than 250 teas in stock, we of course carry a wide range of choices that will bring about ideal states of equilibrium between zest and peacefulness.

Let’s explore some of them. And keep in mind Mother’s Day arrival in just one week—each of these would make wonderful gifts for mom’s grand holiday.

Teas for Calm Moms: Tulsi Twist (Organic)

Tulsi twist yields energy without the caffeine, as well as calm.

This caffeine-free number won’t deliver quick bursts of energy. It’s not built that way. Instead, it fortifies well-being, aids digestion and stimulates brain waves through its inventory of beneficial botanicals. A key ingredient: tulsi, or holy basil. This plant, revered in Ayurvedic medicine, can help reduce inflammation, invigorate the mind and relieve fatigue—without those caffeine wallops. For this blend, we also incorporate ginger root (balm for the tummy, and good for energy), lemon peel (a mood lifter), lavender (for calm), and strawberry leaf and marshmallow root, both helpful for digestion and inflammation.

Teas for Calm Moms: Lady Titania

Lady Titania’s white tea gives subtle energy boosts.

In Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Lady Titania served as the queen of the fairies: a dignified, graceful, proud and fiercely independent woman. To honor that strong character, we came up with this mom-leaning blend. Delicate-yet-potent white tea anchors the tea, with orange peel and lemon balm adding citrus and herbal punch—such flavor! The blend also contains marshmallow and echinacea, which contribute health benefits, including relaxation. Invite this blend to gently (and figuratively!) carry mom through an enchanted forest on a midsummer night. And to give her mid-day calm and focus, as she navigates her busy life.

Teas for Calm Moms: Gyokuro Superior Green

The L-theanine in gyokuro delivers powerful calming benefits.

Mom deserves the best—and so gyokuro is just the ticket. Gyokuro, which means jade dew in Japanese, represents the highest grade of Japanese green tea. Artisanship guides every step. Farmers make sure to shade tea bushes for 20 days immediately before harvesting, a step that adds complexity and umami to the tea once brewed. Importantly, the shade treatment also yields quite a bit of L-theanine, an amino acid that increasingly gets tapped in the consumer packaged goods world to offer consumers stress-busting ingredients in their drinks, snacks and supplements.

After the leaves get picked by hand, farmers steam, dry and carefully roll the leaves into shapes resembling pine needles. Farmers harvest this tea just once a year, in early spring, a practice that further concentrates the tea’s delicacy and focus. Once brewed, it produces a delicate flavor with a slightly sweet aftertaste. This Gyokuro comes from Hoshino, Fukuoka Prefecture, famous for its production of excellent, high-quality teas. This is not to be missed for any tea admirer, and that most definitely includes mom. And the L-theanine just might address her stress—and vanquish it.

Teas for Calm Moms: Jasmine Silver Needle

Jasmine Silver, based on white tea, offers delicacy and complexity. Deliciousness, too.

We can’t resist the siren song of jasmine tea. We carry a variety of styles. Our Jasmine Silver Needle rests on a foundation of premium silver needle white tea, which is one way in which it stands apart from many other jasmine teas, which often use green tea. For the calm-energy tango, the white tea is wonderful, bringing caffeine to the tea party—but not too much.

To make this ambrosial blend, artisans then combine just-plucked jasmine blossoms with tea leaves up to six different times, for up to five hours for each session. The result? A bewitching fragrance and a rich, sweet infusion proffering a multi-layered sipping experience. This is a royal tea. Treat your queen to this botanical gorgeousness for Mother’s Day 2026!
