Fuel Your Imagination with Dark Chocolate Puerh Energy Bites

We find tea works extremely well in energy bites—those no-cook treats often made with dates, nuts and other natural ingredients that provide boosts regardless of whether it’s for the 3 o’clock blues or the mid-hike anti-bonking protocol. These are delicious!

Dark Chocolate Puerh Energy Bites

Makes about 12 bites

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Dark Chocolate Puerh tea
  • ¼ cup hot water (just off the boil, ~200°F)
  • 1 cup Medjool dates, pitted
  • ½ cup walnuts (or almonds)
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened cacao powder
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: shredded coconut, cocoa powder, or sesame seeds for rolling

Directions

  1. Steep the Dark Chocolate Puerh in ¼ cup hot water for 6–8 minutes. Strain.
  2. Return liquid to a small pan and simmer gently until reduced to about 2 Tbsp. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a food processor, combine dates, walnuts, cacao powder, salt, and the concentrated tea. Blend until sticky and uniform.
  4. Scoop and roll into bite-sized balls.
  5. (Optional) Roll bites in coconut, cocoa or sesame for a finishing touch.
  6. Chill for 20 minutes to set. Store in the fridge for up to a week.

Result: Rich, fudgy bites with earthy tea depth and a subtle chocolate lift—perfect for an afternoon creativity boost.
