New Teas for Creativity: Dark Chocolate Puerh and More Inspiring Blends
We’re always on the lookout for outstanding new teas, and we never stop crafting our own bespoke blends, too. The work is important to us—innovation serves as the foundation of our business. Sitting still won’t cut it!
Team members in two of our stores recently devoted time toward blending and finding teas that align with creativity. The idea? With autumn just around the corner and school back in session for many, we need our brains to tap more deeply into creative reserves. People turn to those flowing juices for everything from writing research papers to learning how to make pottery.
Summer is all about taking a break from routine and mental toil. The vibe? A whole lot of, “let’s hang out by the river and watch the dragonflies and hummingbirds buzz.” But with fall comes a vibe pivot, a bajillion variations on a theme of “let’s design a new English-style garden in the back yard that leans into native botanicals.”
The turn comes with an upped need for creative energy. Few substances compare with tea for jumpstarting and maintaining the sparks that drive us forward, from engaging with mathematics to nailing a PowerPoint deck, making a perfect clay mug or finishing writing the next chapter in that novel you’ve been crafting for more than a year.
Here’s to creativity and tea! We hope you savor these new additions to the Ku Cha tea family.
New Teas for Creativity: Dark Chocolate Puerh

This beautiful tea, custom blended by staffers in our Boulder shop, serves as an imagination engine after it’s been sipped.
The tea includes China’s puerh tea, the only common style of tea that gets fermented. In addition to this healthy, stimulative tea it also includes Chinese black tea. So right out of the gates, our Dark Chocolate Puerh is tantalizing sippers with complex flavor and modest caffeine. To this we add cacao nibs, which further decorates the brew with intriguing notes, as well as tiny bits of caffeine. To round it out, the Boulder team added vanilla—jelly to cacao’s peanut butter—and “sweet rice herb,” a plant called Strobilanthes tonkinensis that contains leaves that, when crushed, broadcast aromas similar to sticky rice. It’s quite yummy, and commonly added to puerhs.
New Teas for Creativity: Twilight Oolong

On the hunt for some creative magic? Look no further than Twilight Oolong, which contains the mystical botanical blue butterfly pea flower. This amazing plant, when brewed, turns bold blue if an acid touches the liquid. To achieve this effect, simply add a drop of lemon juice to your cuppa’ and behold the enchantment. In addition, this wonderful tea, designed by employees in the Park Meadows store, contains oolong—glorious oolong— and licorice root. The flavor alone will launch you into an artistic mood.
New Teas for Creativity: Narcissist’s Cup Oolong

Sometimes bells and whistles turn people into trailblazers. Other times, however, it’s simplicity. Consider the furniture made by the Shakers—famously spare, simple and inspired. That’s our Narcissist’s Cup Oolong, sourced by our Park Meadows team. This Chinese oolong, handpicked and delicately roasted, sends forth notes of petrichor along with orchid and narcissus flowers. The Park Meadows team named it for its attractive appearance and aroma—give it a shot, and you’ll endorse the name!
New Teas for Creativity: Lavender Ginger Refresh

The six ingredients comprising this majestic blend can ripen creativity by aroma alone. Consider: lavender, ginger, lemongrass, peppermint, lemon peel, licorice root. Heady! We can imagine sipping this elixir while engaged with myriad creative pursuits. A plein air enthusiast? Of course—imagine inhaling and tasting this while fixed on painting a wildflower meadow. Electrifying! Our excellent Boulder team built this bespoke tea, and we think they hit a home run. It’s awe-inspiring!
