Custom teas, blooming with possibility

Custom teas, blooming with possibility

Fresh, wild blossoms come and go. April’s daffodils left their yard-spangling stations months ago. Dandelions carpeted lawns with gold for only a tidy spell. Roses swoon now, but soon they’ll droop and drop.

But flowers’ botanical majesty persists, brilliantly so, in dried form. Artisans use them in tinctures and potpourri, in soaps and salves. And of course they receive grand coronations as tea ingredients. Blends incorporating dried, glorious petals speckle and invigorate the world of tea blends. Many of our blends contain flowers of some stripe.

Explore benefits, choose ingredients, make it your own

We’ll offer recs for some of our own blends below. But first, we want to invite you to embrace our “Blend Your Own Tea” program.

This DIY approach empowers customers to craft their own bespoke blends. And it outlines for guests the main wellness properties associated with each botanical—from blossoms like chrysanthemum and echinacea to spices, roots, herbs and more.

Our “Calming & Relaxing” section, for example, contains chamomile and catnip, lavender and valerian root, St. John’s wort, marjoram and passionflower. Each of them can help ripen serenity, but they also offer other benefits—which we outline on the website and in our stores.

Feeling down? St. John’s Wort has been tapped for generations across Europe to help with the blues. Marjoram boosts heart health, and chamomile fights inflammation.

We know you’re ready to get into the DIY tea blending game. Let’s get started today! And don’t forget to add those flowers—potent blend partners indeed.

Meanwhile, we offer a few of our popular blends below. All of them leverage flowers for a diversity of qualities, including aroma, flavor and effects.

Floral Custom Tea Blends: Chrysanthemum Green (Organic)

Chrysanthemum Green brings the health, the flowers—and the flavor!

Among all flowers commonly used in teas, perhaps none offer as many health benefits as chrysanthemum. From lung health to vision and the reduction of inflammation, chrysanthemum gets tapped widely by practitioners of natural medicine to help with different conditions.

It proffers quite an earthy and pleasantly floral flavor and aroma too—and when combined with peppermint it’s fairly perfect. This beautiful tea begins with grassy, lovely Japanese sencha. It also contains another extremely important blossom for tea blending—rose petals—along with the chrysanthemum and peppermint.

Floral Custom Tea Blends: Rose White (Organic)

Peonies in the blend! It’s a floral masterpiece.

Love flowers? This might be the tea for you. It leads with peonies, those highly fragrant, big and bold blooms that punctuate spring and early summer. To these gems we add rose petals, rosehips and lavender. The combination is a floral powerhouse, electric with aromatic and flavor enchantments. The perfume! We can’t think of a finer tea for a morning spent in the garden, or just sitting on a balcony enjoying the view. All of the botanicals, too, bring health boosts—lavender brings about calm, for example, and rose petals contain Vitamin C.

Floral Custom Tea Blends: Zen Time Blend (Organic)

Passionflower brings strong flower power to this gem of a blend.

Another extremely potent blossom—passionflower—anchors this outstanding blend. It’s naturally sweet, with a subtle aroma—think of a meadow just after a rain. It’s native to North America, and has been widely used by herbalists for myriad purposes. Among other things, herbalists tap passionflower to help manage anxiety and restless sleep, to mitigate inflammation, to soften ADHD symptoms and address everything from cramping to blood pressure, menopause and high insulin levels. Quite the flower champion! Fortunately, it also offers a pleasant flavor—a little grassy with that natural sweetness. This floral blend also contains rose, rosehip, chamomile and peppermint. A taste sensation! Chamomile, another common tea ingredient, adds floral complexity to the blend.

Floral Custom Tea Blends: Desert Rose (Organic)

Desert vibes capture this gorgeous blend.

Everything in this blend can grow between Colorado and New Mexico—especially in the places where high desert and mountain foothills intersect. And no shocker—it’s heavy on the flowers! For those of us who live in this spellbinding patch of the planet, we thrill to the abundance of native flowers and herbs.

This beauty contains rose—and prairie rose, Rosa arkansana, grows native from New Mexico all the way up to British Columbia. The tea also contains lemon balm and sage, which thrive in the mountain west. And rounding it out—lavender which can perform well in many parts of the region, minus the frigid alpine spots, and rosemary, which at least in Colorado often fails to make it through the winter.

Floral Custom Tea Blends: Colibri (Organic)

Straight from Mexico to you—our custom Colibri blend, starring hibiscus.

One of our team members crafted this excellent blend to bring him back to memories of his relatives in Mexico. Hibiscus, a common ingredient in Mexico, stands as the most prominent floral ingredient. The flower broadcasts a tart, cranberry-like flavor, while also coming across as fruity. And it brews into a deep ruby red color—gorgeous. For this memorable blend, we add orange peel, cinnamon, ginger and peppermint.

Get your flower on and brew some Colibri—as well as the rest of the floral teas in this lineup. And don’t forget to conjure your own custom blends using our Blend Your Own Tea program!
