Gai Wan

Introduced in Ming Dynasty, the Gai Wan has become the most popular, convenient tea drinking vessel in China. It is a preferred method for brewing delicate and fragrant tea. It consists of three parts, which symbolize the Heaven, the People and the Earth. To drink tea out of the Gai Wan directly, you can use the lid to keep the leaves inside the bowl as you sip, adding more water as needed. You may also decant into a pitcher and pour into smaller cups.
