Joey Pottery Tea Cup
Joey Pottery Tea Cup
Japanese Tea Ceremony
These chawans and tea cups were made by hand from start to finish. They each are unique not only through the throwing and altering of the clay, but also in the fact that they are fired in a wood kiln. The kiln deposits ash on the work throughout the firing, and eventually melts and turns to glass, coating the work in a thin layer of glass. These pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe. Joey Miranda is a potter from Fort Collins, CO who works at Ku Cha. He has been making ceramics for 12 years in a variety of ways and styles. These particular pieces were made for the tea house, with tea drinking in mind.
